Into the River

Here is what the Lord was telling me:
For many years I did not know what this dream meant. During ten years of trying
to figure it out on my, He as shown me what it was like to wait on the Lord for the
answer. As I was waiting I was experiencing the most important lesson of all,
trusting in Him. When I asked Him what this experience meant, He gave me Hebrews 4.
He did not reveal anymore for a decade. I had to learn to wait and trust before I
could understand more. Since 2001, I have begun to get some answers. Below is my
opinion of what I felt God was telling me.
I feel that the Lord is calling back many Christians to Him in the spirit realm just
as in the text of Jeremiah 31 when Gods people were coming back from the North Country.
Many scriptures stand out in my mind with this text. The most being in v 12 and 25.
It says in 25 “For I satisfy the weary ones and refresh everyone who languishes.
To languish means to faint. In the desert there is no nourishment or water and one could languish
there if there was no food or liquid. But God provides the living water where we will thirst no more.
(John 4:14 – but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst;
but the water that I shall give him shall become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”)
When we try to do things in our own will we are operating out of our own desires
and there is no sustenance there. We are human and have only limited means.
We can go on in our flesh but if God is not there we will have to continue that endeavor
in our flesh. God has no obligations to things that we want to do that he has not told
us to do. It is very much like the desert; see the desert represented our flesh, our soulish
realm that we all, at times, work out of. Many times we try to carry out God’s will for our life
from this place. You can never please God in this realm and you will end up thirsty.
The other thing that stands out in my mind with this scripture is in v2
“Thus says the Lord, “the people who survived the sword found grace in the wilderness –
Israel, when it WENT to find its REST.”
When we start to look for His rest, there is a special grace (or special favor
that is bestowed on His children who are searching for this sacred thing). Here is an
actual example of what I mean when I show you Psalms 36:7-9. This is what we
should expect when we endeavor to enter His rest. What I mean by endeavor is to
continually try even when we fail.
This scripture is so beautiful.
Psalms 36:7-9
How precious is Thy loving kindness (or His gentle steadfast mercy), O God!
And the children of men take refuge in the shadow of Thy wings. (When we rest in Him
there is protection). They drink their fill of the abundance of Thy house
(There is prosperity when we put total trust in God); And Thou dost give them to drink
of the river of Thy delights. For with Thee is the fountain of life; In Thy light
we see light.”
His rest is a principle key into what He is trying to teach us. It represents perfect
peace and trust…What keeps coming to me about spiritual rest is “Faith like a child” –
or in the scripture it says --- Psalms 131.
‘O Lord, my heart is not proud, nor my eyes haughty;
nor do I involve myself in great matters, Or in things too difficult for me.
Surly I have composed and quieted my soul like a weaned child rests against his mother,
my soul is like a weaned child within me.”
We are supposed to be like a little child and just rest in His love.
He will take care of us. He loves us.
