I Dream of Africa

March 28, 2002
It is funny that one of our pastors just taught/preached on moving in the spirit
of the Lord. The message today filled me with confidence, even though she said that
people did not ordinarily work in dreams. I believe I do. But if this particular dream
is not, I am teachable and realize that I have so much to learn and mature into that it is a little overwhelming.
I am new at sharing my dreams and need sometimes guidance. I am sure I know the meaning
but if you have any additional thoughts I would love to hear them. I think the dream is
self-explanatory. Well here it is.
______________________________________ I dreamed that there were workers in the field, dragging grass mat like flooring
from one village to another. (I did not know what this was and asked what they were.)
One of the workers said that it was like flooring so when they were in a particular place they
could have one luxury of not having to walk on dirt in the huts because of little white
snakes that would give birth in their shoes. (I thought that was odd, but me, being very
afraid of snakes agreed). I looked again and there was a tall, older man with a long
white beard standing on one of the grass mats. He said that even this luxury was not allowed
in the mission field. All unneeded weight had to be shed. Then it was said that the
flooring was only perceived as protection, not really.
The next scene I see is that Alyssa and I are going over somewhere in a plane and a
snake is being borded with us. I said no, I can't fly with that here and they said I had
not choice. So I got on a rope and started swinging in circles to get away from it and
it was chasing me. But instead of getting me, it starting wrapping itself around Alyssa.
The people who were in charge of the plane helped get the snake off of her and said she
would have died if they had not. I felt terrible that I had not stood up to the snake;
I should have dealt with it.
Okay the next part I see a man crouching in tall grass. He says that he is acting like
the lions in the land - like he is hunting for prey but really he is afraid of the other lions
eating him and finding out he is not a lion.
In the next scene I see another man acting like gorillas, swinging around.
But these gorillas are very mean and the man is afraid that they are going to find
out that he is not a gorilla and attack him.
In the last scene I see two groups of people. There is a group who has hostages.
The other group is the police waiting to take charge and go into the land that
the people with the hostages are in. One hostage a woman comes out to the other side.
And I expect to see (and move) with the police like group into the hostages group's
land but they do not move. They are in ambush waiting for the prompting of the
Lord to tell them when to move. I am confused and then realized if they had moved before
told, they would have compromised the whole operation. Then a little boy comes out
of the hostage side and bullets beginning to fly and I think that the boy is
going to be killed but he is in fact not. He is safe. The police come out of hiding and
start to take the enemy’s land.
Then I hear a cry "pray for Africa urgently"
Note: Later my Aunt told me that were specific aspects of the dream that I would have
not know, including there is a type of parasites found in the ground that would hatch
out of the tips of the toes that looked like white worms and people would use these mats to
stay off the dirt to not get the parasites. This dream was certainly a call to pray for Africa!
